List of Drugs that Cause Tinnitus

Interestingly enough, there are more drugs that cause tinnitus than those that are prescribed to treat it.  It is important that you are aware of the drugs that may be causing the non-stop ringing in your ears.  This article is meant to direct you to a list of drugs that cause tinnitus and to a few that help alleviate the problem.

When you look at the different medications that are available on the market today, the affects of them is determined by each individual.  That is why it is essential that you know your body and how something affects you.  For example, when you start taking a new medication and you realize you feel funny, or experience a ringing in your ears, it’s very likely it’s connected to the medication you are taking.

You will find that there are some interesting medications that both cause and stop tinnitus.  Some of the drugs that cause tinnitus aren’t even prescription medications.  Some of most common include Alka-Setzer, aspirin, and Bactrim. 

Other medications to include in the list of drugs that cause tinnitus are Viagra, Celebrex, and antihistamines.  The crazy thing is that antihistamines can also be used to stop tinnitus.  Apparently, the type of antihistamine that is causing or curing will depend on the tinnitus sufferer. 

If you take any medications for another health condition and you are suffering from ringing in your ears or other unnatural noises, you will want to talk with your doctor about changing your medication. 

You may want to pinpoint when the noises started, because it could be something other than medication that started the tinnitus.

This list doesn’t include all of the drugs that cause tinnitus.  There are others that could be part of this list.  You may want to check the side effects of any medications that you are currently taking to see if tinnitus could be one of them.  Talking to your doctor would be a good idea if you suspect one of your medications.

Remember, a great way to pin down whether or not you are taking one of the drugs that cause to tinnitus is to figure out when your symptoms started.  If they started near the time when you started a new medication, that could be a good indicator that you are experience negative side effects.
